BUENAVISTA, Quezon, Philippines — A fireman died in a road accident in Barangay Wasay Ibaba in Buenavista town in Quezon on Sunday.

According to a report of the Buenavista municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO), Fire Officer 1 Emar Paje was driving his motorcycle to the town’s fire station when it collided with another motorcycle, driven by Alfred Tolosa, which was coming from the opposite direction along the Buenavista-Catanauan road.

Both drivers suffered severe injuries and were rushed to Magsaysay District Hospital in nearby Lopez town, where they were declared dead on arrival, the MDRRMO said.

“We take these allegations very seriously. We will thoroughly investigate Garma’s claims to ensure accountability and transparency within our ranks,” the police chief said in a statement.

Fernandez said at least two witnesses – retired police colonel and former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office general manager Royina Garma and police Lt. Col. Jovie Espenido – testified that a scheme of payouts to those who killed drug suspects existed.

The report said that Fevilla De Guzmanrich711, who was riding with Tolosa, is being treated for injuries.
